USA Student Visa (F-1) — Document Checklist (From Bangladesh)

This checklist includes all major documents required for the U.S. F-1 Student Visa application through the Embassy/VFS/CGI portal.

1. Application & Identity

• Valid passport (at least 6–12 months validity beyond intended stay).
• DS-160 Confirmation Page (with barcode).
• Visa Appointment Confirmation (U.S. Travel Docs portal).
• SEVIS Fee (I-901) Payment Receipt.
• Recent U.S.-standard passport photo (51mm × 51mm).

2. I-20 & University Documents

• Original I-20 form issued by your U.S. school (signed by school official and by you).
• University admission/acceptance letter.
• Tuition fee payment receipt (if paid in advance).

3. Academic Documents

• SSC / O-Level certificate & transcript.
• HSC / A-Level certificate & transcript.
• Higher education documents (Diploma/Bachelor’s/Master’s) if applicable.
• English proficiency (if required by university): TOEFL/IELTS/Duolingo.
• SAT/ACT scores (if undergraduate & required by institution).
• GRE/GMAT scores (if applicable for graduate programs).

4. Financial Documents (Strong Requirement)

• Bank statements (last 3–6 months, bank-stamped).
• Bank solvency certificate.
• Sponsor affidavit/letter of financial support (if sponsored).
• Sponsor’s financial documents:
  • Bank statements
  • Salary slips
  • Tax returns
  • Business documents (if self-employed)
• Proof of ability to cover:
  • First-year tuition fees
  • Living expenses
  • Additional funds for next years

5. Home Country Ties (Important for Interview)

• Family documents (to show strong ties to Bangladesh).
• Job letter (if you previously worked).
• Property documents (optional but helpful).

6. Additional Supporting Documents

• CV / Resume.
• SOP / Personal statement (if university required).
• Scholarship/assistantship letter (if awarded).
• Research proposal (for PhD, if required).
• Previous travel history / old passports.

7. Interview Day Documents

• DS-160 confirmation page (printed).
• SEVIS fee receipt.
• Appointment letter.
• Passport + old passports.
• I-20 (original).
• Academic transcripts & certificates (originals).
• Financial documents (all originals + photocopies).

8. After Visa Approval

• Collect passport from U.S. Embassy/DHL location.
• Pay any remaining university fees.
• Arrange accommodation in the U.S.
• Book flight after receiving passport with visa.
