Malta Student Visa — Document Checklist (from Bangladesh)

Use this checklist when preparing your application to submit at the VFS / Malta Central Visa Unit. Originals and certified copies are usually required — keep everything organized in the order below.

1. Application & ID
  • Completed & signed Malta Visa application form (National long-stay student visa).
  • Valid passport (at least 10–12 months validity recommended; minimum 2 blank pages).
  • VFS appointment confirmation / submission receipt.
  • Passport-size photo (ICAO specification).
2. Proof of Admission / Course
  • Official acceptance / admission letter from the Maltese institution (must include full course name, MQF level, ECTS, duration, study hours and address as per MFHEA registration).
  • Course timetable and details (if provided by the college/university).
3. Financial Evidence
  • Bank statements (typically last 3–6 months) showing sufficient funds to cover tuition and living costs. Statements should be bank-stamped/signed if requested.
  • Proof of tuition fee payment (receipt or deposit confirmation) if already paid.
  • Sponsor letter and sponsor bank statements / income proof (if someone sponsors you).
4. Accommodation & Travel
  • Proof of accommodation in Malta (rental agreement, university housing confirmation or booking showing name & address).
  • Flight reservation / itinerary (return ticket if the course is short or requested).
5. Health & Insurance
  • Travel/medical insurance covering the Schengen Area for the stay (minimum cover usually around €30,000; check your insurer certificate).
  • Medical certificate / test results if required by the embassy (some agents mention chest X-ray / general medical checks).
6. Academic & Language Documents
  • Original certificates and transcripts (secondary / higher secondary / degree as applicable). Some authorities ask for these to be certified / apostilled depending on the course.
  • English language proof (IELTS/TOEFL) if required by the institution.
7. Police & Civil Documents
  • Police clearance certificate / good conduct (if requested).
  • Birth certificate, marriage certificate (if applicable) — certified copies.
8. Supporting Letters & Misc
  • Cover letter explaining purpose of stay, course details, duration and funding plan.
  • Any previous visa copies (if you have travelled earlier).
  • Proof of ties to Bangladesh (optional but helpful — e.g., family, employment letter, property).
9. Fees & Submission
  • Visa fee and VFS service fee (payable as per VFS Bangladesh instructions — fees shown on the VFS Bangladesh portal; non-refundable if refused).
  • Make copies of every submitted document and keep originals for interview/arrival.

Tips: Submit applications well in advance (the embassy/VFS guidance typically recommends several weeks — often 6–12 weeks before course start). Follow the exact document formatting requested by the Malta Central Visa Unit / VFS for Bangladesh.
